This 1998 Stewart & Stevenson M1079 is a military vehicle that was acquired by the seller in 2022 and subsequently converted to an overland-style camper. Finished in tan over gray vinyl upholstery, the truck is powered by a 6.6-liter turbodiesel inline-six mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The camper is outfitted with a kitchenette, a workstation, a wet-bath bathroom, and a sleeping platform with a power-operated lift. Additional features include LED lighting, a mini-split air conditioner/heater, and a Sonos sound system with a subwoofer. House power equipment consists of a 1,200-watt solar panel array, a solar charge controller, a 600-Ah battery system, a 3000-watt inverter/charger, and shore power connections. Service under current ownership involved changing the oil and fuel filters.

The M1079 Medium Tactical Vehicle is a van-style variant of the US Army LMTV platform and was produced by Stewart & Stevenson in the late 1990s. This example was converted to an overland-style camper under current ownership, and the cab and the sides of the cargo box were reportedly repainted tan at that time. Equipment includes front and rear tow anchor points, an underbody cargo box, a receiver hitch, and a rear pintle hitch. The camper cabin measures approximately 21′ long by 8′ wide and is fitted with four windows, a removable rear step system, and dual rear doors. Infrastructure equipment consists of a rooftop 1,200-watt solar panel array, a 600-Ah house battery system, 65 gallons of fresh water capacity, a 75-gallon gray water tank, an Eccotemp demand water heater, and shore connections for power and water. Victron power equipment includes a solar charge controller, a 3000-watt inverter/charger, and a power distribution module. The seller notes an air leak in the cab air suspension system.

Black 20″ steel wheels are mounted with 395/85 Goodyear MV/T tires, while a full-size spare is secured behind the cab. Stopping power is provided by air-assisted brakes. The cab houses two bucket seats trimmed in gray vinyl along with a green metal dash and a gray cloth headliner and wall covering. Additional features include black rubber floor mats, a center console with cup holders, a storage box behind the driver’s seat, sound-damping material on the transmission tunnel, and a reverse-view camera. The chainsaws shown in the gallery photos are included in the sale.

The two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of an 80-mph speedometer, push-button transmission controls, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 13k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The steering wheel center cap is missing. The living quarters are outfitted with woodgrain vinyl flooring, LED lighting, USB ports, 120-volt power outlets, and a 2,500-lb. winch for hoisting heavy objects into the cabin. The kitchenette features a Duxtop induction cooktop, a stainless steel sink, and a Frigidaire refrigerator, while storage consists of overhead cabinets, an under-counter storage bay, and drawers with external latches. A workstation with an iMovR 71″-wide sit/stand desk is configured with dual monitor arms, a keyboard platform, a rolling chair, and a weBoost cellular signal booster. The computer and monitors shown in the gallery photos are included in the sale.

The forward area of the compartment is furnished with a mattress supported by a power-operated lift, while adjacent storage includes a wardrobe cabinet as well as a toolbox with drawers and an integrated device charging station. The wet-bath bathroom features a glass door, an aluminum surround, a shower with a tethered sprayer, a Maxxair power-operated exhaust vent, and a Thetford cassette toilet. A Sonos audio system includes two speakers and a subwoofer, while climate control equipment consists of in-floor electric heat as well as a Mr. Cool mini-split air conditioner/heater.

The 6.6-liter Caterpillar 3116 turbodiesel inline-six delivers power to all four wheels through an Allison seven-speed automatic transmission and a single-speed transfer case. Recent service is said to have included changing the oil and the fuel filters.
